Awakened April

Another month is whizzing by and so many juicy things to tell you.

Just as the blossom and magnolias have been in full bloom this month, I can feel my energy and passion rising, feel myself awakening.

There’s a particular meditation I do in which I visualise holding an egg in my hands and watching it hatch, as though watching my potential come to life. The creature I see emerging is always a Phoenix, hence the main image for today’s blog post. I really do feel as though I am rising from the ashes of everything I am leaving behind. Exciting times.

This week I have had the pleasure of being interviewed on Marlow FM by the lovely Sonia Grimes from You-trition. I had a great time and I look forward to sharing the interview with you in the coming days.

Doing this interview helped me to get even clearer on how I can serve you all. I’m excited about getting everything that’s in my head (well, maybe not everything) out into the world.

In the meantime, here’s a little summary of what I’ve been up to.

This month I have been working on…

Taking responsibility.

This month I have felt called to really start taking more responsibility for my life in order to see the results I claim to want. There are a few too many things that I am complaining about at the moment without really putting in the required effort to make changes, even though I have all the resources I need to enable me to make those changes.

Perhaps you can relate. I’m great at seeking out advice and expertise but I don’t always fully implement it, or at least I’ll implement for a while and then slip back into half hearted patterns.

A more detailed blog post about why this happens is brewing but for now I thought I’d let you know what I am taking greater responsibility for this month. Hopefully it will inspire you to step your game up (and keep me accountable!)

Health

This is one of my key focus areas at the moment. Having left corporate in not so great physical condition I have spent the last eighteen months collecting and putting together all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that is my health. I’m now really getting to the nitty gritty of the foods I need to eliminate, the supplements I need to take and ensuring that I do just enough to energise me whilst still safeguarding my recovering energy levels. I’m doing well in terms of supplements but now it’s time to commit to eliminating all the foods I am intolerant to according to my York Test results. I have the information, it’s now my responsibility to act on it if I want to increase my energy and reduce the inflammation I feel in my body.

Body

It’s time to ensure that I am doing at least three workouts a week in order to get my fitness and energy levels back up. And if I can’t make it to the gym then a home workout will have to do, especially as the weather is now getting better. No more excuses! My preferred place to workout is at Target Human Performance in Amersham, a great boutique gym that provides personal training and classes as well as fitness retreats.

I am also getting back to my beloved horse riding and dance lessons.

I find exercise to be my biggest stress reliever as my brain is focused on the task at hand and I am in my body rather than in my head, which is where I generally hang out. I often find myself feeling inspired with ideas during an exercise session precisely because my mind is relaxed. The trick is remembering them long enough to implement them.

Money

Ah, money. Making the transition from consulting to coaching was always going to be interesting from a financial perspective but I have resorted to my bad habit of sticking my head in the sand in the hope that if I don’t look at my finances they will just sort themselves out. Unfortunately this is not how anything in life works. Energy flows where focus goes. At the beginning of this month I spent an entire weekend filling in my financial spreadsheets and logging my business expenses for my accountant. There’s still plenty of work to be done but it feels amazing to have broken the back of it.

As for my money mindset, I have finally started the I Heart Money course I bought from the amazing Emily Williams a while ago. Although I have worked with wealth coaches previously this is an area that needs consistent attention, especially as I grow my business, and just buying a course doesn’t help! I actually have to do the work.

Personal growth

I am always working on something in my life because I am constantly evolving but it has become evident that there are some areas where I seem to be making slow progress. It’s time for me to question why that is and determine how to change that. For now those areas are a little personal to share but I’m sure I will talk about them in the not too distant future.

One thing I can share is that I have finally established my A Course In Miracles practice. I have had the book for at least two years but only now am I committing to my daily practice. Day 47 today. Next step is to start reading the text alongside doing the daily practices.

Business

Last but not least, my business! I have become more visible recently with my Truth Quest on Facebook and starting my Feminine Truth Podcast but it’s time I showed up for you consistently and shared all the content that I have buzzing around in my head. I am not serving anybody, including myself, if I remain the UK’s best kept secret! Watch this space.

This month I am reading…

I am always reading about five books at any one time but here are the most significant books I’m delving into at the moment.

Code Red by Lisa Lister

Reading this book has made me aware of how little I knew about my cycle. Lisa teaches us about the four different stages of our cycle, pre-ovulation, ovulation, pre-menstruation and menstruation, and how we show up in the world at each stage based on, amongst other things, what is going on with our hormones, which is such useful information for both us and our loved ones.

She also provides resources that you can use to get acquainted with your cycle in order to start tracking how you feel on each day of your cycle. I’m only on month one and can’t wait to have three months of data to refer to. I already know that days twelve to fourteen are tricky for me (that’s code for “I go a bit crazy”) and I’m really looking forward to identifying when I am most productive, when I need quiet time, when I am most energetic, so that I can then create a work schedule in alignment with that.

Fat is a Feminist Issue by Susie Orbach

This has been on my reading list for a very long time. Written in 1978 this book is as relevant today, if not more so, than it was then. In an age where women are obsessed with their physical appearance this book delves into the deeper issues involved in women’s relationships with food and their bodies. A fascinating and eye opening read so far and I’ve only just begun.

Be A Free Range Human by Marianne Cantwell

Another book that has been on my bookshelf for a while but this month the Universe gave me a subtle kick up the backside that caused me to actually start reading it.

During a session with one of my coaches the dreaded words “If you don’t want to do this all day everyday for free then you need to reconsider this as a career” were uttered.

Now, as a multi passionate person, this is one of the worst things someone could say to me. It was, however, as though he was giving voice to the fearful thoughts running through my mind. What if this isn’t it, what if I get bored of this as well, if I’m having these doubts maybe I shouldn’t be doing this?

Clearly I needed reminding of my multi passionate nature and the Universe duly obliged by drawing my attention to Marianne’s TEDx talk that had just landed in my inbox (you can watch it here).

I will never want to do one thing all day every day for free. Never. There are very few things in life I am sure of but that is one of them.

Marianne’s expertise lies in helping people to create lives and careers that allow for all of their passions to be accommodated. I am now working my way through this book feeling excited about the unique business that I am in the process of creating.

Highly recommended for all those multi-passioneurs out there.

This month I am listening to…

The Funky Divas of Soul En Vogue were at Koko London on 7th April. Absolute Goddesses. A fantastic show that took me back to the days of listening to Trevor Nelson’s Rhythm Nation.

As a consequence I have been listening to a lot of 90s RnB. Usher, Ginuwine, TLC, Toni Braxton, Blackstreet. Ah, memories.

I have been working on a few things that led me to revisit the Aphrodite training by Marianne Williamson. It’s time I started to incorporate more Aphrodite into my life and I can’t think of a better role model for living like a Goddess than Marianne.

And, returning to the theme of taking better care of my money, I have started listening to The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles.

This month I am indulging in…

  • A trip to Cornwall to visit my Family, which included a trip to the beach at Padstow and to the beautiful Lanhydrock.
  • My first riding lesson in three months. Can’t wait
  • The Catch on Sky Atlantic. Slick and easy on the eye, this is definitely a guilty pleasure.
  • The London Wellbeing Festival. I’m scheduled to attend six different workshops and hope to bring back some deep wisdom to share with you.
  • 100% Madagascan chocolate from Auberge du Chocolat. Being dairy free does not mean being chocolate free, thank God. And this chocolate is both guilt free and delivered to my door. What more could a girl ask for?

This month I am being supported by…

In addition to continuing my work with Kitty Cavalier and Gail Love Schock I am also working with:

  • Janet Murray – I have joined Janet’s Soulful PR Studio in order to help me learn how to make my business as visible and accessible as possible. I’ll be starting with creating as much valuable content as possible.
  • Lilli BadcockI am taking part in a Beta test of Lilli’s programme Find Your Voice. I had been thinking of getting back into singing and then Lilli’s course came along. This course is all about finding your voice, both your singing voice and your speaking voice. As I build my business I will be doing more and more speaking so this course kills two birds with one stone – I get to strengthen my singing voice as well as finding my speaking voice so that I can get my message out there into the world.

Another great month, if I do say so myself.

Until next time,

Love X
